Illustrator Induction

I've never used Illustrator before so most of the contents in this induction proved to be quite difficult for me especially getting the hang of the pen tool. As well as having difficulty with curves and complex shapes, the gradient tool was just so hard to use. After the induction, I noticed a lot of people preferring Illustrator over Photoshop because it appeared to be more simple but for me it's the other way around, but hopefully, over the three years of this course my Illustrator skills will improve.

These are just a few screen shots of some of the techniques that were covered in my induction.

This was just the basics of the blending tool.

This is an example of how you can change the blends design. Although it looks nice I think for  showing the colours used in concept work and such, that the top one s better suited because it's easier to see the colours.

Here I was just experimenting with different shapes, angles and different ways of presenting the colours.

Pathfinder: This is an example of excluding shapes.

Pathfinder: This is an example of intersecting. This is useful to help creating eyes.

Pathfinder: This is an example of using the Minus front effect.
This was a pen exercise to help you get use to the basics. I found this very useful since I've never used Illustrator before. I struggled with a few towards the bottom.

Here I was using rotate to create a flower shape.

This was an experiment with the live paint tool which is basically like the colour fill you'd find on pretty much all of your drawing programs.

This was my poor attempt of using the gradient tool. I was so out of control I've even missed a panel.
